One more cross section, exactly the same model house. This one was inspired by Queen Mary’s Dolls House and the Thorne Rooms. A dolls house is only a big box full of little boxes, it’s what you do with them that counts.
Another cross section, another house customised for a client. I have re-designed and decorated over 30 of this particular house model, all compleatley different. These photos show both the attic and the basement. To give an idea of cost, a high end commission would be £2-5k for a very large house, inclusive of everything.
Cross sections. The first thing I do when I get a new commission, is work out the layout of the interior, the room designs are built around that. The biggest part of what I do is alter standard houses to make them unique to each client. Cross sections show the changes best.
There is something about the Turquoise Room at Castle Howard that I really like, it inspired me to do one of my own. I have posted the real one and my one, I dont want to duplicate, but pick out elements of what I like best.
Below stairs is probably more fun to do than above stairs, they don’t have to be so neat and clutter free. I try to design the rooms so you can use every single bit of space. There are so many different ‘below stairs’ rooms to choose from, I will post a few design examples over the next few days.
