Update today on the basement I’m working on. The photos are under harsh lights as the little lights are not on yet.
Update on the Ashcroft Hall I’m working on. Some of the walls are in place now, the flooring is also down and you can see a few of the rooms taking shape. So far we have from left to right – Kitchen, pantry, butlers pantry with cold store, servants hall, scullery/laundry and butlers bedroom/office.
I have started on my next commission, it’s HUGE! it’s an Ashcroft Hall by The Dolls House Builder, here in the UK. It has already been customised by him to my spec but at over 6 feet tall and 5 feet wide it will take time to do. It will also be a very detailed and high spec commission. I have started to work on the kitchen wall….
Finally finished my squeezed in renovation, it was more 1/24th scale than anything else, so that’s what I made it into. I work to a fixed budget, but this is what I came up with, I kept as much of the original house/ doors as I could, but replaced hinges etc with like for like, as the uniqueness of it is part of its charm.
Update on my renovation. I need a blank canvas to work from, I also need to do some work to strengthen it.
It has been sanded and primed twice, I have made a new roof and base but still have a lot to do on the inside to get the walls in a better condition.
I am in between commissions at the moment, working on the complex design of a large house which hasn’t been finalised so meantime I have squeezed in a renovation that hopefully shouldn’t take to long. Other likeminded people like me (slightly eccentric) will understand when I say I felt sorry for this house, which is why I agreed to do it even though I don’t really have time. It’s hand made with a bit of Tri-ang, Romside and a bit of what’s left in the garage 20 years ago.
Yes, I know it should be bright red, green white and yellow, all true 1/16th with lots of plastic but my client wants soft and pretty. Look at the 1/24th door… You thinking what I’m thinking?
I had to show you this, I have met a very clever lady who makes furniture to order. I had commissioned her to make the reception desk and unit in Rosemary’s hotel. She charges a fraction of what she could, but like most of us does it because she enjoys it. If you have anything in mind I really reccomend her, you can contact her on [email protected] she also has an Etsy shop.
Rosemary’s hotel is being delivered tomorrow, just something small as a finishing touch for the reception, a final gift from me.
An update on my latest commission. Rosemary’s hotel. Almost finished now. Bespoke curtains made by Tanya Harvey and lights all on. Rosemary wants to make flowers for the fire grates which I would like to see when done as I think it will finish the rooms off and make them look cosier.
