I’m having to put one of my display houses up for sale before my family go mad. They are very tolerant generally but my real house has been taken over with dolls houses at the moment so this one has to go. I have put a £3500 price on it which does not cover the materials, but I hope will tempt someone into giving it a good home. It comes with purpose built stand and everything you see in the photos. If anyone is interested and for more information please send me a message, delivery to the UK is possible at cost.
Happy to say the house has sold today to a lovely lady.

Just putting the finishing touches on Rosemary’s hotel. thought I would show the roof in a little more detail. Real slates take a bit more time to do. After I put them on, I seal them with matt varnish, you can see the difference.

I’m getting close to finishing the decor on Rosemary’s hotel. I have some minor finishing to do then the wiring can start. I thought I would take some photos so you can compare before and after the house ‘shell’ was changed internally. You can now see the hotel with all the bedrooms. The exterior was already painted, but I have spent the day tiling the roof with real slate tiles with lead flashing.

I have dressed the room, just to show how it could look…..Ok so I like flowers….

I’m almost finished the rooms on the hotel I’m working on. I have a problem though. I only have one sheet of wallpaper and one sheet of carpet supplied to me by my client. Neither are big enough to finish the room, so I’m going to have to do something to make this work. I will post what I did to give Rosemary her French inspired suite. I had to change some bits and make a few additions.

In between working on commissions, I am also starting to work on my next display house made my Ted Wright. I have am planning the basement section at the moment, not wishing to repeat rooms I have already designed I want to do something different. I have in my head a silver store/wine cellar, a cold store/pantry, a laundry, a large kitchen and a garage. Lots of work ahead as you can see…

I have also finished the Chinese inspired suite. I love the colours of this one, I think it’s really rich. Sue Cook made the fireplace especially to match.

Two rooms to update on.
One started as a galleried landing to the staircase, but that’s now been moved down one floor to provide an extra room which leads to two bedrooms. My client Rosemary would like this as a ‘reading room’ in her hotel and has given me the wallpaper and carpet to use. I wanted to design something to bring the colours together, but also to make this room look a little like a library. I would imagine bookcases and comfy chairs. This is how the room was made with tips and the end result, the lights aren’t on yet, so it’s under a spotlight, which is a bit harsh.

I have now finished my Art Deco room and wanted to show you how I find it important to pay attention to the details. The room has an ensuite which you can only really see if you look through the windows to the side of the house. I have put a mirror in there, when you put in a mirror, you have to decorate everywhere as the mirror will reflect every detail, this goes for things like rear hallways and bathrooms. Nothing worse than putting a mirror in and looking at a blank bit of MDF. See if you can see what I mean..

Update on the Art Deco hotel suite. I cant quite finish it as I am a light short, but prep work is done. I just couldn’t find what I felt was right for the room off the peg, so it’s all bespoke. Does it now work? Well you can be the judge…..
