I havent quite finished the red reception room yet (trouble with a ceiling light) so next week, but have made good progress on the dining room. It’s still very basic, and I haven’t put the final coat on the door (Ivory) but you can get the idea of colours which are my client choice (I think they are lovely). You can see how I do the mitre around the chimney breast to get it right.

Update on my latest commission. This is Rosemary’s house, here is a photo of the house with the East and West that she already had made for it. My job is to integrate the house, or should I say hotel into it. Next photos are today’s work, I have clad the walls hiding the Windows from the inside giving a smooth finish, this will also allow me to run wires for lights down the side walls and hide the hinges. The outside Windows have been filled, sanded and painted over. You can see some of the colours going on as well as the base coat.

Update on my latest commission. I’m posting as I work on this one so you can see how much you can change a house. Something to bear in mind about this one is it has an East and West wing, so the house itself needs to ‘link’ to them. This means that most of the windows on the sides have to go as they will be against walls. I have put new doors in leading into the actual ‘wings’.
Building work nearly complete, not the same stair rails, it’s to give you an idea of where they will go on the new galleried landing.

I’m going to start posting photos of my next commission. A dolls house magazine will be following its progress too, but you can have a first look here. It is indeed a Hotel, the reason I wanted to post about this one is I think it will be the most extensively changed house I have done to date. I love to get ‘off the peg’ houses and completely change them to become exactly what their owner really wants. I am altering every room in this house and going to show you how, I’m moving windows, doors, stairways, adding new passages, landings, infact totally remodelling. Here are some before photos, the beautiful clover leaf rear window will move down to the floor below to be the focal point in a new galleried landing.

Thought I would post a little about my next commission. Every project I do, I add something as a gift from me. This one is no exception. I am going a little over the top though, but my client is really, really nice! I feel the details finish it properly, here are some clues to what I’m upto and little details starting to arrive for it.

Something different for you. Did anyone see the £150,000 dolls house sweet trolley at Heston Blumenthal’s restaurant ‘The Fat Duck’ it opened up to reveal lots of tiny working draws and two attic spaces with a sweet shop one side and a child’s bedroom the other. Everything bespoke designed for the restaurant using some of the finest artisans in the world. Wonder who was involved in that? I bet they are not allowed to say……but I bet they wish they could!

My new ‘show house’ being made. This is the work of Anthony Wright. He is a very talented man here in the UK. I can’t decide if he is a brilliant architect or a master cabinetmaker, probably a cross between the two. Have a look at this..Town House…..work in progress…it will stand 7feet tall and will have a secret garden.
