Also one of my all time favourites, Lyn Carriere ‘s house, understated style, no compromise on expense and quality and it shows.
Still one of my favourites, Lyn Carriere’s house, elegant, beautiful and classy like its owner.
Almost finished the renovation I’m working on. One thing she wanted was a set of steps leading to the front door, but not taking up much space. I have mixed railings with stonework. I would have ideally liked to have put something in the centre, but she specifically wanted it left plain. It’s completely bespoke.
My client has found some photos for me of her house as it was before I ‘got at it’ my brief was to give her larger and more rooms, but still maintaining a proper ‘architecturally working’ house, hence the removal of the chimney breasts and changing the layout. See what you think of the alterations. House work in progress in the photos below. The biggest change is the addition of the bathroom, and yes I did take out and re do all the floors and stairs! The basement windows were made to match the ones on the house.
One of my favorite things to do is renovations. Not necessarily the largest or grandest houses, but the smaller ones needing the most care and attention. They are also the ones usually with the most sentimental value, so not the highest in monetary value but priceless to their owner nonetheless. I have lost the ‘pre got at’ by me pics (sorry) but you can see this little house is well underway. It has had its staircase moved to allow a new layout and bathroom where the hall once was, with an extra window and galleried landing. It all works architecturally and has a bespoke basement built.
Seeing all the beautiful miniatures at Kensington yesterday has inspired me to post several past designs on my page. I will start off with Kitchens, after doing so many it’s getting harder to make each one different!
I have an article this month in The Dolls House Magazine, there is a photo of a blue room I did a while ago using Sue Cook’s beautiful plaster items, I don’t think it’s the best photo to show off her work, so here’s another.
Commissions, I get commissioned in my business to design houses and rooms. This time I thought I would post something I myself had made, or should I say, crafted. Have a look at this beautiful little character made by Julie Parrott Character Creations, I would say one the finest animal makers in the world.
Working on a new house as a show case for Dolls House Grand Designs, well strictly speaking, I’m not Ted (Anthony) Wright is. He has a 5’x 7′ space to play with which he is (hand) making into a (secret) garden, basement, main house and attic. It’s up to him what he does, design wise, this is just the exterior centre, craftsmanship like this is very rare to find these days.
Thing of beauty…
Posting this, simply because it’s beautiful. The work of Tanya Harvey and equally skilled Mum. My rings are so you can appreciate scale.
