Something I have always fancied doing is a step by step on a project. Commissions come to me for so many reasons and for various levels of work. The one thing they all have in common is the owners want something beautiful at the end. This is one from the beginning that just overwhelmed my client because of its size. It started as an Ashtorpe manor by the ‘Dolls House Builder’. I’ll post pics as I change and play about with it….

I wanted to highlight the work of a friend of mine, Tanya Harvey from Tanya’s Little Curtains. In this Marie Antonette inspired room she made or dressed most of the furnishings, including the beautiful dress, based on the real wedding dress of the French Queen.

Nearly finished a commission, I wanted to share it with you as it’s quite unusual. The client had remade the frontage including the dormers which had rounded roof tops. They wanted them completely leaded, the roof done with real slates etc. It’s unusual to do round dormers, even more so to entirely lead them. It is based on a real house though, In Bury St Edmunds.

I get this urge about this time of year to design a new house for display, so I am going to put up for sale my previous house, inclusive of most of its high end contents. The fixtures and fittings (and furniture) were designed for it, so they need to stay with it. The house, basement and cabinet that it stands on, lighting including the beautiful Rosels chandelier are probably worth in excess of £20k but I have so many ideas in my head I really need the space. For this reason I am hopefully going to find someone who will love it and look after it, hence a really good price of £5000 inclusive. I hadn’t been able to say until now, but Dolls House Grand Designs is in the Harrods Magazine as the exclusive supplier of high end Tudor, Regency and Cottage style dolls houses. They are all bespoke and made to order. They are filled with artisan pieces and made by the UK’s best craftspeople.

This house was one of the biggest I have ever decorated, rather a nice one
though, based on a Regency townhouse, the kit is called ‘The Strand’ by Dolls House Direct. The inside is the rooms I have posted below. I didn’t do the whole house, the clients want to do some themselves.
