This is a house that was delivered yesterday to a dear lady client in Wales. This was a hard one for me as we never actually met, I had to learn what she liked and send lots of photos. I then worked the designs around the choices she made. She liked the idea of a secret passage, so I put one in for her.

Inside has 4 rooms. I didn’t want to go traditionally dark, as my client wants a cosy feel.

3500 roof tiles….

Just finished a commission ‘outside my comfort zone’ as they say. I had to design and decorate a Tudor Rectory, well it’s now finished, my trusting client just let me do what I thought would look nice. I really hope she likes what I have done. Photos below, inside and out, what do you think?

Thought I would share a shop I have come across called Vilia miniatures in Italy. The ready made items are beautiful and reasonably priced and the unpainted furniture is easy to paint. Here’s some I painted to match a room.

Something different for me, a Tudor Rectory. My client aleady has a black and white one, so my challenge is to give her something different. I live near a place called Lavenham in Suffolk, famous for its timber buildings. I am basing this little house on a real one of those.I have yet to age the paintwork, but it’s coming along.

Secret passageways everywhere…

I have done this a few times now, but it’s something you can do with any house. If you don’t want to see endless stairs going from floor to floor, then why not build a secret passageway behind a bookcase. This one complete with stairs going up…

I did a project last year for the BBC, I never reall posted proper photos. the brief was to make a miniature version of Rembrandt’s house in Amsterdam, but on a very tight (BBC) budget. This is idea was the presented was superimposed walking around so it had to look passable for the real one. I forgot to say, I had one week to do it…
